The Pro Progressione Performance was born from a collective idea
The artistic partner of the Green E.Th.I.Cs project, Pro Progressione, based in Budapest, premiered their performance addressing topics connected to the local environment.
Pro Progressione is a Budapest-based artistic hub that connects people, professions, and ambitions by designing international collaborations in the field of culture. From this combination, creative ideas emerge – artists, cultural activists, scientists, and experts from various fields meet and provide cutting-edge answers to the questions of our age.
They focus on creative works that allow them to have a positive long-term impact. Pro Progressione is built on four main pillars: PP Social, PP Cult, PP Arts, and PP Sound.
Currently, Pro Progressione is an artistic partner of the Green E.Th.I.Cs Project and recently presented their final performance. Bálint Antal, communication manager and an important team member, responded to some of our questions regarding this show.
How was your experience during the rehearsals?
Our organization gave absolute creative freedom to the artistic team, which everyone enjoyed a lot, and all the rehearsals happened in a professional, yet fun atmosphere.
Was the creation of the performance a collective effort or based on the director's idea?
It was absolutely a collective idea, which the artistic team, and a local theatrical youth group came up with.
What topics did you address in your performance and why?
We addressed a wide area of topics, from the issue of fast fashion to the question of individual versus collective responsibility regarding climate change. The common feature of all the topics were, that they were all connected to our local environment in a way.
Did you learn anything new about climate change during the preparation of the show?
Mainly about the local context, and how intertwined it is with the broader thing. Also, it was quite empowering to feel that whatever small we can do, could matter.
How was the audience's reaction?
The audience was very active, they were eager to participate, and were really involved with everything that was happening.
Do you think that shows like this can raise awareness about climate change and resonate with all kinds of people, as it is the ultimate goal of the European Cultural Fund?
Absolutely. This kind of live edutainment theater can make you have fun and think at the same time, which is a unique opportunity.
